SEKRPC Awarded $137,295 in HPG funds

Chanute, KS September 16, 2021 – The Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission (SEKRPC) recently received a $137,295 grant from the U.S Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Office through the FY 2021 Housing Preservation Grant (HPG).
This grant will provide financial assistance to low-income homeowners in the City of Chanute, and Anderson County (including the City of Garnett, City of Colony, City of Kincaid, City of Westphalia, and the City of Greeley) for weatherization and ADA Accessibility repairs/upgrades. This grant will also provide financial assistance to Cottonwood Estates (Uniontown, KS) for the installation of 6 ADA Restrooms and a new roof for the McCune Friendship Villa (McCune, KS).
The Southeast Kansas Regional Planning Commission is thrilled for our communities and the opportunity to enhance the quality of life throughout southeast Kansas. We appreciate the continued confidence and support from our communities in us to administer a project like this.
The Housing Preservation Grant Program administered by the U.S Department of Agriculture-Rural Housing Service provides qualified organization grant funds to assist low- and very low- income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. In addition, the HPG Program assists low- and very low-income rental property and complexes in rural areas in repairing and rehabilitation their units.
